“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness”. II Timothy 4:7-8
Deacon Albert Grissett, affectionately known as A.J., of Little River, SC was born on February 20, 1941, in Horry County, SC to the late Deacon James “Buddy” Grissett and Deaconess Letha Grissett. He was born and raised in the Brooksville community. Albert accepted Jesus Christ and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church in Little River, SC, then served as a Deacon and later as Father of the Church until his health failed. In addition, Albert worked as a longshoreman and a volunteer firefighter. In fact, Albert Road in the Brooksville section of Little River, SC was named after him because of his volunteerism. He was also one of the founding board members for Little River Water and Sewer Company. Albert enjoyed family, fishing, playing cards, and had a heart bigger than most. He was always a cheerful giver and would do anything to help others. Albert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
