Our beloved Lou Bertha White Stewart, 72, peacefully left this world on March 17, 2026, surrounded by her Children, brother, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The ninth child of James and Hattie White Sr., Lou was born in Loris, South Carolina, on May 23, 1953. A lifelong advocate for education, Lou spent 42 years as a teacher and literacy coach in various school systems across the united states, as well as teaching abroad, in Germany and the United Arab Emirates. She strongly believed that a passion for learning could take a person anywhere they wanted to go in life, and she lived by that philosophy every day, either living in or visiting 47 States, 6 continents, various countries, all while making friends and teaching lessons along the way.
Lou is survived by her two children: Amanda and LaRon, four grandchildren: Gabrielle, Liam, Lathen, and Lennox, as well ten living brothers and sisters numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Lou at Mt Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, with internment at Mt Rona Cemetery. followed by a repass and visitation with family.
